The Tacoma Public Library has the information and resources you need to find a job and explore new careers, earn long-distance learning degrees, start and grow small businesses, write an effective resume and cover letter and develop new strategies for you job search. At the Main Library's Education and Job Center we help you prepare for your future.

The Tacoma Public Library's Education and Job Center offers a variety of services and tools for job seekers.

  • Information on 2 & 4 year colleges, technical schools, scholarships & financial aid

The Tacoma Public Library's Education & Job Center is funded, in part, with a grant from the Office of the Secretary of State, Washington State Library as part of a Renew Washington Project which is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

JobNow.
JobNow offers personal job coaching and assistance for patrons at all phases of their job search as well as resume and cover letter review and live interview practice. JobNow also has an extensive collection of resources, including resume/cover letter templates, interview tips, general sample interview questions, industry-specific sample interview questions, and a vast array of online resources and links. Testing & Education Reference Center helps patrons prepare for higher education and the working world by teaming with Peterson's to deliver detailed (searchable) information on private high schools, undergraduate and graduate programs and executive education programs. The database also features interactive online practice tests for preparatory examinations including entrance exams and certification and licensing tests.

WOIS (Washington Occupational Information System)
A multitude of tools to help you decide what you might want to do with the rest of your life, including a self-assessment questionnaire that matches skills, abilities and preferences with occupations; and an information database which can help you sort through the postsecondary schools in Washington state to find those that meet your needs. WorkSource Pierce County and WorkSource Washington
WorkSource is a comprehensive network of community partners working collaboratively in a one-stop system that helps individuals obtain the skills necessary for employment and to deliver a first class workforce to the business community. Partners represent school districts, post-secondary educational institutions, government agencies, labor organizations, community-based non-profits, and businesses.
